In our home, we’re big Disney Channel fans! There are so many fun shows to watch together! You can only imagine how excited we got when we heard the news about the latest comedy series to join the channel’s lineup of shows, “Stuck in the Middle”!
The engaging single-camera comedy series for kids and families will be presented in a full episode preview on Sunday, February 14 at 8:45 p.m., ET/PT on Disney Channel, immediately following the channel’s premiere of Disney’s Academy Award-winning animated film “Frozen” 7:00 p.m., ET/PT.
Jenna Ortega (“Jane the Virgin”) stars as inventive tween Harley Diaz, the middle child in a bustling household of nine. Told from Harley’s point-of-view, the slice-of life stories find the comedy in everyday life of a big family as this middle child devises creative ways to cope with — and stand out — in her family’s busy suburban Massachusetts household. The Diaz parents, Suzy and Tom, also have six other kids: Rachel the self-involved eldest; Georgie, a basketball-playing teen; Ethan, Harley’s closest ally; invincible and indestructible twins Lewie and “Beast”, and the strong-willed youngest sibling, Daphne. It looks like it’s going to be a super cute show!
The “Stuck in the Middle” preview episode will be on WATCH Disney Channel and WATCHDisneyChannel.com, available to users on tablets, phones, set top boxes and computers, beginning SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14. The show will begin in its regular time slot Friday, March 11 (9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel.
So…who else is excited for this new series? I know we are!

I’m extra excited about this newest trailer because it features the new song “Try Everything“, written by singer-songwriter Sia and songwriting duo Stargate, and performed by Grammy®-winning international superstar Shakira. Watch the latest trailer: Here’s a synopsis of ZOOTOPIA:
The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when rookie Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootopia,” a comedy-adventure directed by Byron Howard (“Tangled,” “Bolt”) and Rich Moore (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”), and produced by Clark Spencer (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “Lilo & Stitch”) opens in theaters on March 4, 2016. Are you as excited for the release of this film as we are?

I’ve been excited about the Peanuts Movie since the very first signs in the movie theater lobbies appeared and the first teaser trailers aired! I took this picture with Charlie Brown so long ago. It’s been a lot of excitement and anticipation for me, just waiting for the release date to get there and now it’s here!
I grew up loving the Peanuts Gang and reading Charles Schulz’s comic strip in the newspaper every Sunday with my Grandma. It was a special time when our family would gather together to watch when the Charlie Brown specials would come on TV during holiday times. The Peanuts characters were my childhood! When I was invited to an exclusive Meet and Greet at Knott’s with the Voice Cast and Craig Schulz for the new Peanuts Movie, I was excited for the opportunity to interview this young, talented group of kids.
Because of a conflict with my daughter’s soccer schedule, she wouldn’t be able to attend the event with me but she insisted I still go without her. It was going to be a full morning chatting with Craig Schulz, Steve Martino (Director), Noah Schnapp (Charlie Brown), Francesca Capaldi (Little Red Haired Girl), Hadley Belle Miller (Lucy), Mar Mar Walker (Franklin), Mariel Sheets (Sally), and Alex Garfin (Linus).
I was very excited (and a little nervous) to meet Craig Schulz, Charles Schulz’s son and the writer of this Peanuts Movie. Once I started chatting with him, I soon realized he was just as down to earth as anyone else. I mainly asked him about growing up in his household and what it was like to have a dad who was producing an amazing comic strip for the newspaper?
Believe it or not, Craig shard with me that he and his siblings didn’t think much about it. As kids, they didn’t really realize what exactly their dad was doing. Craig told me he didn’t even think his dad was going to “work” since they’d see him there at home all the time.
I was a little worried I might not be able to connect with the kids from the voice cast. What if they saw me, an adult, and completely tuned me out? What if all they heard coming out of my mouth was, “WAH WAH WAH!”? I realized that I just might be one of the adults from the Peanuts specials! Or even the teacher! Good grief!
I wanted to make a connection with the kids during the interviews, so I turned to my first grader students for some help with the interview questions. I don’t think my first graders didn’t quite grasp the concept of what exactly a Voice Cast is. They actually thought I was going to interview Charlie Brown, Lucy, and Snoopy, as in, the cartoon characters!
My students were really interested to know about the actors as relating to their schooling. So, I asked each of the actors about reading. As an educator, I was pleasantly surprised that each one of the actors could tell me what types of books they enjoy reading or even a current title!
It was obvious that group of young people have actually have developed and maintained a love for reading, which I fear is a rarity among kids these days with technology and the internet. That’s an important message to send to our youth though. In the midst of being in the studio for hours at a time, they still make time to read.
It’s amazing to see the Peanuts characters come to life on the Big Screen! Have you seen the film yet? If you haven’t, you’re going to LOVE it! Who’s your favorite Peanuts character? It’s too hard for me to pick just one or even two! My love for “the Gang” runs deep and they all hold a special place in my heart!
Disclosure: I was invited to attend this event as media. No other compensation was received. All opinions are 100% my own. Some images and logos property of Peanuts and Blue Sky.
Exciting news about Disney’s upcoming film “Zootopia”! Set to release in theaters next Spring, on March 4, 2016, this Big Screen adventure is going to be another family favorite!
Have you watched the trailer yet?
Here’s a synopsis of the film: The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything.
Walt Disney Studios officially introduced the Voice Cast for Zootopia and it looks to be an amazing and talented cast. ‘Zootopia’ features such a large and diverse range of characters—one of the biggest casts ever for a Disney Animation film.
Joining Ginnifer Goodwin, who provides the voice of Zootopia’s first bunny officer Judy Hopps; Jason Bateman, who lends his voice to con-artist fox Nick Wilde; and Shakira, who voices international superstar Gazelle, are the following members of the “Zootopia” voice cast:
Idris Elba (Netflix’s “Beasts of No Nation,” BBC’s “Luther”) provides the voice of CHIEF BOGO, head of the Zootopia Police Department. A tough cape buffalo with 2,000 lbs of attitude, Bogo is reluctant to add Judy Hopps, Zootopia’s first bunny cop, to his squad of hardened rhinos, elephants and hippos. J.K. Simmons (“Juno,” Oscar® winner for “Whiplash”) lends his voice to MAYOR LEODORE LIONHEART, the noble leader of Zootopia, who coined the city’s mantra that Judy Hopps lives by: “In Zootopia, anyone can be anything.” Nate Torrence (HBO’s “Hello Ladies,” Fox’s “Weird Loners”) lends his voice to the Zootopia Police Department’s most charming cheetah, BENJAMIN CLAWHAUSER. Clawhauser loves two things: pop star Gazelle and donuts. From his reception desk, he greets everyone with a warm smile and a helpful paw—covered in sprinkles. Jenny Slate (“Obvious Child,” “Marcel the Shell”) provides the voice of ASSISTANT MAYOR BELLWETHER, a sweet sheep with a little voice and a lot of wool, who constantly finds herself under foot of the larger-than-life Mayor Lionheart. Tommy Chong (“Up in Smoke,” “That ’70s Show”) lends his iconic voice to YAX THE YAK, the most enlightened, laid-back bovine in Zootopia. When Judy Hopps is on a case, Yax is full of revealing insights. Octavia Spencer (“Insurgent,” Oscar® winner for “The Help”) voices MRS. OTTERTON, a desperate otter who turns to Officer Judy Hopps for help in solving her husband’s mysterious disappearance.
Bonnie Hunt (“Return to Me,” “Jerry Maguire”) provides the voice of BONNIE HOPPS, mother of Judy—and her 275 brothers and sisters. Mrs. Hopps loves and supports her daughter, but is a hare nervous about Judy moving to Zootopia to become a big-city police officer. Don Lake (“Dumb and Dumber To,” “The Bonnie Hunt Show”) voices Judy’s father, STU HOPPS, a carrot farmer from Bunnyburrow. Along with Mrs. Hopps, he is worried about Judy moving to Zootopia and the untrustworthy big-city mammals who live there—especially foxes.
Alan Tudyk (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” “Trumbo”) returns to Disney Animation’s recording studio for his fourth feature in a row as the voice of DUKE WEASELTON, a small-time weasel crook with a big-time weasel mouth, who tries to give Judy the slip during a police chase. Tommy “Tiny” Lister (“Friday,” “The Fifth Element”) voices FINNICK, a fennec fox with a big chip on his adorable shoulder. Raymond Persi (“Wreck-It Ralph,” WDAS story artist) voices FLASH, the fastest sloth working at the DMV—the Department of Mammal Vehicles. Katie Lowes (ABC’s “Scandal,” “Big Hero 6”) lends her voice to DR. MADGE HONEY BADGER, who heads up all of City Hall’s most pressing medical cases.
Jesse Corti (“Frozen,” “Beauty and the Beast”) is the voice of the jaguar MANCHAS, a highly regarded chauffeur who works for the biggest—and shadiest—limo company in town.
John DiMaggio (Fox’s “Futurama,” Cartoon Network’s “Adventure Time”) voices JERRY 2 JUMBEAUX JR., the easily annoyed owner of Jumbeaux’s Café, his elephant ice cream parlor.
I am SO excited for this film! I think my favorite portrayal of a character and character art is for Shakira’s character though. She’s an International Superstar, GAZELLE! How adorable and realistic is her character?
