The holiday season is just around the corner and I couldn’t be more excited about it! I feel so lucky to live in Orange County because we are so close to THE BEST Christmas train aound: Irvine Park Railroad’s Christmas Train. For our family, it’s become an annual tradition and it’s the place that we get our keepsake Santa photo each year.

You can come to Irvine Park Railroad’s Christmas train with family and friends and take an enchanting night ride through historic Irvine Regional Park to meet Santa Claus. The train departs to “The North Pole” every 15 minutes from the brightly-lit train station and takes you on a beautiful train ride filled with lights and adventure. At the North Pole, visitors meet Santa may purchase coffee, hot chocolate, freshly-popped popcorn, hot pretzels, and cookies from Santa’s Snack Shop. (A full kitchen menu is available at the train station)Visitors may take their own pictures with Santa or you may purchase a picture taken by Irvine Park Railroad. Each 5” x 7” photo will be presented with an Irvine Park Railroad frame and available for pickup shortly after being taken. After visiting with Santa, hop back aboard the train and enjoy the colorful Christmas lights and decorations, as well as the magical “Tunnel of Lights”, on the ride back to the station. When visiting the Christmas Train, remember to dress warmly, bring a camera, and arrive early to avoid crowds.

In addition to riding the Christmas train, there are many activities for children to enjoy in Santa’s Village located next to the train station. Activities will be open when the Christmas Train runs and include:

  • Ice Fishing
  • Santa Claus Moon Bounce
  • Craft Corner
  • Blizzard Ball

Please note: Some of the activities in Santa’s Village require an activity ticket. Activity tickets are different from Christmas train tickets and may be purchased directly at the box office, regardless of whether Christmas train tickets are sold out or not. 

The Irvine Park Railroad Christmas Train will be open this year beginning Friday, November 29th through Sunday, December 23rd. The cost to ride the Christmas Train is $20.00 per person. Children younger than 24 months ride free. Tickets for the Christmas Train SELL OUT QUICKLY! This year, they’ll go on sale beginning Monday, November 4 at 8:a.m. and WILL SELL OUT! You can purcahse them at http://www.IrvineParkRailroad.com. No Christmas Train tickets may be purchased in person.

The parking for Irvine Regional Park is $3.00 per vehicle on weekdays and $5.00 per vehicle on weekends; parking for the Christmas Train is free after 5:00 PM.

Irvine Park Railroad’s 2019 Easter Eggstravaganza March 30 – April 20

Raise your hand if you’re more than ready for Spring to arrive this year? I know I’m ready! One of our family’s favorite Spring event to check out each year is Irvine Park Railroad’s Easter Eggstravaganza! Have you been before?This year the Easter Eggstravaganza, where you’ll find The Easter Bunny, starts on Saturday, March 20 and will go through Saturday, April 20. Not only is The Easter Bunny there, visitors will also find an array of family friendly activities to enjoy including:

  • hay rides
  • a moon bounce
  • Easter cookie decorating
  • carnival games
  • face painting
  • picture stands

and a lot more. Some of these activities require activity tickets while others are free of charge. The cost for train tickets is $6.00 per person; children 12 months and younger ride free. Activity tickets are $6.00 per ticket or $75 for a book of 15 activity tickets.

Irvine Park Railroad’s Easter Eggstravaganza also holds Easter egg hunts that begin daily at 10:00 a.m. Tickets may be purchased and exchanged for a wristband to participate in an egg hunt at a specific time. Please bring an Easter basket for each child that will be participating in the Easter egg hunt. Irvine Park Railroad will also offer Easter baskets for sale. Tickets must be purchased on the day of the event to receive a wristband for the Easter egg hunt. Who’s ready for Halloween? I know it’s still summer but I get so giddy just thinking about pumpkins and Halloween fun! One of our favorite things to do each fall is visit Irvine Park Railroad’s Pumpkin Patch  and this year, they’ll be opening their 13th Annual Pumpkin Patch on September 15th! Yay!The Pumpkin Patch will be open daily, starting September 15th and running through October 31st. If you haven’t visited before, you’ll want to make a trip out. It’s fun for both children and adults! Irvine Park Railroad is located inside of Irvine Regional Park in the foothills of Orange, California. The Pumpkin Patch is located in Locomotive Loop and Miners Meadow just behind the train station.

Thousands of pumpkins, in all shapes and sizes, fill the areas behind the train station. All visitors are sure to find the perfect pumpkin. In addition to the pumpkin patch, there are a bunch of activities there too. (Prices for pumpkin patch activities vary.)This year’s Pumpkin Patch activities include:

It’s truly the most wonderful time of the year because the holiday season has begun! One of our family’s most favorite holiday traditions, is to visit Santa, over at Irvine Park Railroad. The Christmas Train event sells out quickly every year and tickets for the 22nd Annual Christmas Train just went on sale so I’m advising you to grab your train tickets now, ONLY available for purchase on their site if you have hopes of riding the train to see Santa. (Please go here for ticket info and purchase.)  Please note, there will be no exchanges of tickets once you’ve selected your date and time and ordered yours.

Irvine Park Railroad has become a favorite destination for families from across Southern California, takes passengers on a 12-minute ride through scenic Irvine Regional Park. The engineer narrates the ride pointing out all of the history inside of the park which is over 100 years old. Another fun time to visit is during their anniversary. Please note: The $2 tickets are valid during the Anniversary Celebration weekend only.
