Celebrate “Noon” Year’s Eve Confetti Countdown at Pretend City

Twas’ the day before New Year’s and all through the city the citizens are stirring and buzzing about! With sparkling streamers and festive party hats this is one celebration you won’t want to miss. Pretend City Children’s Museum is the “city” they’re speaking of and they’re, once again, ringing in the new year with their annual “Noon” Year’s Eve Confetti Countdown on December 31st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.!

This is the ideal New Year’s Eve kid-friendly celebration geared specifically towards families with infants, young toddlers, and preschoolers. Some special activities of the day will include:

Sensational Story Time – Twas’ the Night Before New Year’s will be the featured story of the day. See if your little can find some inspiration to stay awake until the strike of the New Year!

Hotel Transylvania 2: “Deck The Halls” Sing Along Plus Free Printable Spooky Drac-Tivities

Just in time for the holidays, Hotel Transylvania 2 has a fun SCARY-OKE video just for you! You can sing and dance along with your favorite members of The Drac Pac with this “Deck The Halls” sing along video! Have you seen this film yet? If you missed it, here’s a synopsis:
The Hotel Transylvania sequel reunites ‘Drac’s Pack’ of loveable characters, led by “Vampa” Drac (Adam Sandler, Grown-Ups) as they try to put Mavis (Selena Gomez, Spring Breakers) and Johnny’s (Andy Samberg, TV’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”) son Dennis through a “monster-in-training” boot camp to bring out his vampire side. It’s a resurfacing procedure that uses a patented technology to detoxify, rejuvenate, and protect your skin. Not only do you see immediate results, but there’s no downtown or irritation. Think instant gratification and maximum results in minimum time!

If Only I Could Turn Back Time

Before I tell you more about my HydraFacial, let’s just take a short walk down memory lane of my skin. I can still hear adults advising me not to sun so much when I was a teenager. I remember thinking how unwise they were. Ha! If only I’d listened, right? Sun damage is one of the biggest factors that plays a role in advanced aging.

Another problem I’ve experienced with my skin is adult acne. I thought I outgrew acne after turning 30 but nope! About 7 years ago, I suddenly broke out so horribly, I didn’t know what was going on, nor did I want to go in public. After visiting the dermatologist, I learned that my hormones were the cause. After that experience, I’m always cautious about what I put on my skin because I don’t want to break out horribly.

A HydraFacial can really help women achieve beautiful skin, no matter what their challenges are. Sun damage, oily skin, dry skin, adult acne, rosacea, etc. We all have things we combat with our skin. What woman wouldn’t want to keep reverse the damage they’ve done to their skin looking while helping it rejuvenate to look as young and as healthy as possible?

What to Expect from a HydraFacial

Since a HydraFacial is a medical grade treatment, it’s done by a Medical Esthetician. I scheduled my treatment with Lisa, who is beyond thorough in her explanation about each part of the procedure and her attention to detail. After Lisa took some “before” pictures of me on her iPad, I relaxed on the table while soft music played in the room and she explained how the HydraFacial process works. The entire procedure utilizes 3 different nozzle tips and 4 different serums. Here’s what you can expect from a HydraFacial:

Cleanse and Exfoliate – The initial step in the procedure involves a gentle cleansing and exfoliation, using a special tip and Activ-4 serum. This helps remove build up of makeup and dirt and reveal new, healthier skin on the surface. Lisa explained the importance of exfoliation, pointing out that no matter how great of a moisturizer and other products you may use on your skin, without regular exfoliation, most of those products won’t even penetrate the surface of your skin.
Peel – I was a little nervous about this step because I’ve had acid peels before and they really stung. Using GlySal, Lisa did a gentle peel on me, which tingled a tiny bit, but wasn’t painful at all. The GlySal serum she used is a mixture of glycolic and salicyclic acids and delivers the benefits of a peel without post-peel scaling. I never peeled afterwards! That’s a plus!
Extraction – This part of a facial is never fun and be uncomfortable but it’s necessary to extract all of the things clogging our pores. During this step of the procedure, a patented, automated suction cleaned out my pores with the use of an exclusive Beta-HD serum and without pain! My pores looked way better and even smaller, after my HydraFacial.
Hydration – This step was like the grand finale. Lisa used an Antiox serum, a combination of Antioxidants, Peptides & Hyauluronic Acid, to nourish and protect my skin. It made my skin feel firmer and plumper and appear way brighter.

When my HydraFacial was over, my face felt so much better. It was shiny and soft and super hydrated. I felt like I walked around “glowing” the rest of the day. I swear I would get a daily HydraFacial if I could! What do you think about my “before” and “after” pics? I had several people ask me that day (and the days following) what I’d done to my skin.

Construction Updates From Great Wolf Lodge®Southern California

A couple of months ago, I had the exciting opportunity to take a hardhat tour at the newest Great Wolf Lodge® location here in Southern California. I spent the day touring the site and learning all about what this family mega-resort, built around a 105,000 square-foot waterpark, will be offering its guests and I was completely WOW-ed! Well, I’m here to share some of the latest construction updates with you today. (updates were current as of December 3, 2015.) As the opening date gets closer, I get more and more excited!

Progress at the Resort
The ginormous 105,000-square-foot waterpark is coming to life! More slides and attractions have been installed, such as the Whooping Hollow kiddie slides (see the photos below) and cement has been poured throughout the park.
The Resort’s Grand Lobby is continuing to take shape, including the fireplace where daily Story Time will take place featuring Great Wolf Kids characters. Check out the antler chandeliers ready to be hung in these photos.
From the guest suites to the hallways, the family-friendly accommodations are looking more and more like Great Wolf Lodge every day. See the detailed décor in the photos.
The conference center, featuring 20,000 sq. feet of meeting and banquet space, is well on its way to completion.

‘The LEGO® Movie™ 4D A New Adventure’ All-New Story Opening Feb 6 at LEGOLAND® California Resort

Such exciting news for LEGO fans of all ages! For the first time ever, LEGOLAND® Parks are offering a first look at an exciting new theme park attraction that reunites the stars of “The LEGO® Movie™” in an all-new story appearing exclusively at LEGOLAND® theme parks and LEGOLAND® Discovery Centers in 2016. The 30-second clip gives fans the first glimpse of what happened after the blockbuster movie, when Emmet, Wyldstyle, Unikitty, MetalBeard and Benny reunite at the invitation of a shady new character, Risky Business, who plans to open a curious theme park bearing a suspicious resemblance to LEGOLAND®.

Returning to voice their iconic characters are the following actors:

Elizabeth Banks (Wyldstyle)
Nick Offerman (MetalBeard)
Charlie Day (Benny)
Alison Brie (Unikitty)
Actor, writer and comedian Patton Oswalt lends his voice to the scheming Risky Business, whose Evil Secret Plot requires the heroes to call on the Master Builder skills of a surprise ally to save the day.

The short 3D film will play several times a day at each LEGOLAND® site, with “4D” effects such as wind, water, fog and more bringing the action bursting off the screen and into the audience.

“The LEGO® Movie™ 4D A New Adventure” will premiere at both LEGOLAND® Florida Resort on Friday, January 28, followed by LEGOLAND® California Resort on Saturday, Feb. 6. The attraction will debut later at LEGOLAND® theme parks and LEGOLAND® Discovery Centers worldwide.

Los Angeles-based Pure Imagination Studios is creating “The LEGO® Movie™ 4D A New Adventure” with input from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the talented writer-directors who brought “The LEGO® Movie™” to life, along with contributions from Rob Schrab, who is directing the movie’s eagerly awaited sequel, due in 2018.

2015 Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade Kicks off December 16

The Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade will return for five nights of festive fun starting Wednesday, Dec. 16. Drawing thousands of visitors annually, The parade draws thousands of visitors annually, is the longest-running lighted holiday boat parade in the nation, and the largest harbor parade in California. The Christmas Boat Parade is hosted by the Commodores Club of the Chamber of Commerce and will take place nightly from December 16- Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015. It will feature approximately 100 festive boats and this year’s theme is “Seas the Holidays.” For the first time in its history, multiple nights of the parade will include Grand Marshal appearances in addition to fireworks and other festivities:

Wednesday, Dec. 16 – Arte Moreno: Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim owner Arte Moreno has guided the Major League Baseball team to six American League West Division championships over the past 12 years. A leader both on and off the field, Moreno established the Angels Baseball Foundation in 2004 to invest in education, healthcare, arts and sciences and community-related youth programs throughout the region.
Fireworks will start this year’s event with a bang, lighting the sky over the Newport Beach Pier at approximately 6:15 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 17 – Amy Rodriguez, Christen Press and Whitney Engen: U.S. Women’s National Soccer players Amy Rodriguez, Christen Press and Whitney Engen will kick off the second night of holiday fun on the harbor with a fan meet and greet at ExplorOcean (600 E. Bay Ave.) starting at 4:30 p.m.
Orange County native Amy Rodriguez has won two Olympic gold medals and has played in two World Cup games, while Christen Press is a World Cup champion who holds the title of all-time leading scorer for the Stanford University women’s soccer team. Defender Whitney Engen, also a native Southern Californian, was a highly decorated player on the University of North Carolina’s women’s soccer team and currently plays with the Boston Breakers.
Friday, Dec. 18 – “The Voice” Season 8 Contestants: Four alumni from the hit NBC singing show “The Voice” will bring their talents to Newport Harbor including: Brian Johnson, whose impressive vocals and range landed him a spot on the top 12 of the competition; Jacob Rummell, a singer-songwriter with powerful vocals reminiscent of Michael Jackson and Bruno Mars; Bay Brooks, a free-spirited singer with her own unique, soulful spin on country music; and Barry Minniefield, the soulful singer also known as “Hollywood’s Singing Chef” for his extraordinary talents in acting, singing and cooking.
Saturday, Dec. 19 – Tournament of Roses Queen and Court: For the second consecutive year, the Tournament of Roses Royal Court will dazzle onlookers before the official Rose Parade® on January 1, 2016. The Royal Court’s participation in the Christmas Boat Parade celebrates the extensive history of both beloved SoCal events. The 2016 Rose Queen® is Erika Karen Winter and the Royal Court® includes Donaly Marquez, Sarah Shaklan, Natalie Hernandez-Barber, Rachelle Liu, Regina Pullens and Bryce Bakewell.
Sunday, Dec. 20 – Fireworks Finale: A stunning fireworks show will conclude the five-day holiday celebration. Visitors are encouraged to secure a spot near the Balboa Pier to view the show, which starts at 9 p.m.

The parade will begin each night at Bay Island at 6:30 p.m. and end at the same site at approximately 9 p.m, completing a 14.7-mile route around Newport Harbor. The route offers multiple viewing spots around the harbor for residents and visitors to enjoy for free, as well as a number of restaurants around town offering beautiful harbor views.
Open December 5, Marina Park will be a brand new viewing area for this year’s parade. The 10.5-acre recreational center will provide ample space for parade-goers, with family-friendly activities planned there each night. With a wide variety of participating vessels, the festively-decorated yachts, dinghies and kayaks will vie for the top prize in categories including Best Animation/Special Effects, Best Humor/Originality, Best Music and, of course, Best Lights.
Serving as the backdrop for the parade is the annual “Ring of Lights” contest. A spectacle all its own, beautifully decorated bayside homes and businesses surrounding the harbor go all out with their own holiday spirit, featuring everything from rooftop animated scenes to dancing Christmas trees. With its own judged categories and prizes awarded, the “Ring of Lights” has become as celebrated as the boat parade itself.
